Eliminating mould and reducing damp in a 19th century house
For our next project, we set about removing mould and reducing damp in a 19th century house. In buildings this old it is essential to work with respect for the original structure, materials and historic character.
In this house, the damp was causing serious problems - the plaster had started to peel off and mould was spreading rapidly. The walls were soaked with moisture, leading to interior damage and general deterioration of the surfaces. For us, it was crucial that the house was not only free of mould but also retained its historic value.
We first focused on removing the mould from the walls and then applied a special anti-mould coating Alpha Inner.
It was important to choose materials that were compatible with the historic buildings to avoid damaging the original structure. After the successful application of the coating, the moisture was reduced and the plaster remained firmly in place.
As usual, we provided the client with certification for our anti-mould coating and a 5 year guarantee, ensuring the long term protection and quality of our work
The house is now protected from damp and mould, the render is sound again, and the owners can enjoy a healthier and safer environment. Thanks to our sensitive approach, the historic value of the building has been preserved without causing any damage.
