Karlovy Vary/Prague. One of the historic houses in the center of Karlovy Vary has seen its facade completely renovated. The association of unit owners decided to invest not only in the aesthetic improvement of the building, but above all in its energy efficiency. The key to the transformation was modern reflective insulation coatings.
The aging facade, which no longer met the requirements in terms of both appearance and insulation properties, underwent a major renovation in recent weeks. After the repair and restoration of the original stucco plasters, which was carried out by a local specialist company, it was time to apply an innovative coating system.
The owners of the house chose a combination of ALPHA ISOLATION and ALPHA INNER products. These are reflective insulation coatings that work on the principle of reflecting thermal radiation. This technology aims to significantly reduce energy costs.
“In the summer months, the coating prevents the building from overheating and maintains a pleasant climate inside. On the contrary, in the winter, it prevents heat loss, which will lead to significant savings on heating,” explains Jaromír Bauer, a representative of ALPHA CZECH. The top layer was finally tinted into a new color shade that sensitively fits into the historical character of the surrounding buildings.
The entire system was applied in three steps: first, the ALPHA TOTAL PRIMER penetration coating, followed by the ALPHA ISOLATION intermediate layer and the ALPHA INNER final layer. This composition ensures excellent thermal comfort, but also protection against moisture.
The renovation of the facade is an example of how the requirements for protecting the historical appearance of buildings can be combined with modern technologies leading to sustainable and economical solutions for their residents.
