Innovation at ŠKODA AUTO: Reflective coatings reduce the temperature in halls

Modern technology for better working conditions in Mladá Boleslav. ŠKODA AUTO, part of the Volkswagen Group (Volkswagen AG), is introducing innovative solutions to improve the working environment at its main production plant in Mladá Boleslav. The carmaker has begun applying modern ALPHA FLEXIBLE reflective insulation coatings to the roofs and skylights of its production halls, specifically Hall M13. The main aim of this measure is to prevent buildings from overheating and significantly reduce the temperature inside the halls during the hot summer months.

The new technology works on a simple but highly effective principle of reflecting solar radiation. A special high-reflectivity coating prevents the roof cladding and skylights from absorbing heat. In industrial facilities, where there is already a high concentration of heat from production technologies, eliminating additional heat load from the sun brings a noticeable improvement. Employees can thus look forward to a more stable and much more comfortable temperature in their workplaces.

Environmental and economic benefits of reflective coatings

In addition to the direct positive impact on employees, the application of ALPHA FLEXIBLE coatings also brings significant environmental and economic benefits. Because buildings overheat less, the need for active cooling using energy-intensive air conditioning units is reduced. This leads to significant savings in electricity and a subsequent reduction in CO2 emissions.

Another advantage is the long service life of the coating itself, which also protects the roof covering and extends its overall resistance to weathering.

This innovative project is fully in line with ŠKODA AUTO's long-term sustainability goals. By investing in modern technologies, the carmaker is proving that caring for employees and protecting the environment can go hand in hand. Improving working conditions and reducing its environmental footprint remain one of the main priorities of this leading Czech company, which is successfully modernizing its operations for the future with this step.
