Vrbenský Barracks Hradec Králové

Hradec Králové/Prague. The long-dilapidated historical building of the Vrbenský Barracks in the center of Hradec Králové has received a new look. In August 2025, a complete repair of the facade was completed, which is a key step in the transformation of the building into the seat of the largest natural science exhibition in the Czech Republic. The investor of this significant cultural and construction event is the Hradec Králové Region.

Vrbenský Barracks Hradec Králové - ALPHA CZECH, Revolutionary reflective insulating coatings

The revitalization of the extensive facade with an area of approximately 10,000 m², which was carried out under the supervision of monument care, required a modern and at the same time gentle approach. The implementation was undertaken by the company ALPHA CZECH, which used innovative reflective insulating coatings to restore the historical shell.

Special coatings ALPHA ISOLATION and ALPHA FACADE were applied to the facade. These materials not only protect and aesthetically enhance the historical building, but thanks to their properties, they should also bring significant savings in energy costs. The reflective layer helps to keep the heat inside the building in winter and prevents it from overheating in summer. This is expected to not only reduce heating costs, but also extend the overall lifespan of the facade. Finding a solution that would meet the needs of the museum, achieve a modern energy standard and at the same time respect the requirements of conservationists was a key part of the project.

The total reconstruction of the Vrbenský Barracks, which began in June 2024, is an investment worth 341 million crowns. After the completion of construction work in 2025, the installation of exhibitions will follow in 2026 and 2027. A modern museum campus will be created here, which will offer interactive exhibitions and will become the pride of the entire region
